410 Superamerica, sn 1449SA, 1959 (BBR, limited 100/200)
Delivered new to Luigi Chinetti in 1959, the featured Series III 410 SuperAmerica is the third to last Ferrari fitted with Lampredi's long block engine. After being displayed at the New York Motorshow, Chinetti sold the car. After changing hands only a few times, it was acquired by the current owner in 1999. Freshly restored, the car was first shown by its new owner at the 2005 New York City Concours d'Elegance.
After it's second New York 'debut', the car was sent back to the restoration company to prepare it for the 2006 Villa d'Este Concours. The all black paintjob was livened up by a silver roof. The excellent preparation paid off and s/n 1449 SA received the Trofeo BMW Group for best of show by the jury. It was also a good weekend for the owner as he had just taken delivery of his personalized Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. We would like to thank Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and Peter Kalikow for assisting us with this feature.
