Chassis 0858 was the second of three 330 P4s built in 1967. It was raced throughout the season by the factory team, claiming an impressive second in that year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. It helped Ferrari win the 1967 World Manufacturer Championship. For the BOAC 1000 km race at Brands Hatch the roof was chopped off, cutting the weight by 40 kg. The bodywork was further modified with a much sharper nose as part of its 350 Can-Am conversion at the end of the season. It campaigned in three Can-Am race that year but with little success. Now in private hands, chassis 0858 was raced in Australia (Surfer's Paradise) and South Africa in 1968. It scored five victories in the popular Springbok Series. In 1969 the car returned to Europe and scored two more wins.
Shortly after its retirement from active racing, it was bought by the current owner and only very rarely shown in public. After nearly 4 decades of ownership, he decided to let his prized possession go and offered it at the 2009 RM Auctions Ferrari Passione e Leggenda sale. Record prizes were expected but the bidding halted at 7.25 million Euro. The fact that Ferrari would only certify the car as a 350 Can-Am and not as the much more coveted 330 P4 drove bidders away.
