When Ferrari announced it was planning a trip to tour the entire country of India and asked us to participate in one of the legs, I jumped at the chance. No buses, no tour groups, no cattle herding from one tourist trap to another. Ferrari had done all the planning and I was just to show up and drive! And I can't imagine a better car to drive in one of the most fascinating countries in the world than the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, one of the most exotic grand touring cars in the world.
But taking Ferraris on road trips through far-flung countries is not breaking news anymore. In 2005 the folks from Maranello embarked on a 15,000-mile voyage through China, and a year later sponsored the Panamerican 20,000-mile journey. Both proved the prancing horse not only is the world's foremost sports-car maker, but these speedy machines are also reliable enough to travel on unknown road conditions in less-developed countries.
